This image is a composite of Mercury transiting the Sun during November 11, 2019:

This image is made up of a number of images taken using the Slooh.com Solar telescope during the approximately five hours it took for Mercury to cross the face of the Sun.

The Slooh.com Solar telescope has a high frame rate camera attached to it and Slooh.com makes the feed available to its members. Slooh.com members can snap images that get saved to their photo library, from where they can download their images.

I created this image using Photoshop: I took a single image of the Sun before the transit started and then superimposed a frame of Mercury’s transit onto the image. I did this a number of times to create this composite image.

You too can take and create images just like this one – download my free book about using the Slooh.com telescopes!
