When displaying images, the device displaying the image needs to have an understanding of the color space an image uses to correctly display it on the screen. Saving color space information with your images ensures that they appear as you intended them to appear, regardless of what software is used to display the image.
This article discusses how to use the ICCProfileTransformation process to save color space information to your images.
Using ICCProfileTransformation
- Ensure you have an image open on the PixInsight desktop – this should be a nonlinear, complete image that’s ready for publication
- Open the ICCProfileTransformation process, found under Process – ColorManagement
- Select your target image in the Source Profile section
- Enable ‘Convert to the specified profile’ option
- Select sRGB IEC1996-2.1 or later
- For Rendering Intent, select Perceptual (photographic images)
- Drag the New Instance icon to your image to execute the process
When you save your image, ensure the ICC Profile option is selected if it is available for the format you want to save your image in.
