This is a wide field view of the Carnia Nebula, or NGC 3372:
This was shot in narrowband using H-alpha, SII, and OIII filters. Here’s a link to the Wikipedia article about this nebula.
Acquisition and Processing
I acquired this using a telescope at Telescope Live with the following subframes:
- H-alpha: 80 minutes
- SII: 80 minutes
- OIII: 80 minutes
I processed this image using PixInsight and used the Hubble (SHO) color palette. I worked on this image to bring out the colors you see here because the SHO image was dominated by green and the resulting image has lots of different colors throughout.
Compare this image to the RGB image captured with Slooh.com – the Slooh.com image is a smaller field of view but is still useful for comparison between RGB and narrowband colors and features.
