This is the Spaghetti Nebula, or SH2-240, discovered in 1952:
This is a very dim nebula, which makes it difficult to observe. The nebula is a supernova remnant estimated to be about 3,000 light years from us, thereby situating it within our own Milky Way galaxy.
Acquisition and Processing
I captured this nebula using Telescope.live’s Spain telescope, a Takahashi FSQ-106ED. This image is taken in narrowband (HSO) – the following are the acquisition details:
- H-alpha filter: 10 minutes, 1×1 binning
- SII filter: 10 minutes, 1×1 binning
- OIII filter: 10 minutes, 1×1 binning
I processed this image using PixInsight and Photoshop using the Hubble palette (SHO).
