This is the lower half of the sun as it appeared on September 7, 2021:

The sunspots shown here are the biggest we have seen in many years. They are AR 2866 on the left of the center of the image and AR 2868 on the right/center of the image.

The active regions are actually made up of a number of sunspots: AR 2866 is made up of 15 sunspots and AR 2868 is made up of 17 sunspots, all of which are bipolar – meaning that they have both positive and negative polarity.
