RC-Astro released an update to its AI model, releasing it as version 8 of the AI.

Improvements to the AI model are for stellar and non-stellar sources paying attention to galaxy disk details. The training dataset has been expanded to include cases like bright stars, crowded star fields. and galaxies and galaxy clusters. The noise model has also been improved to match the noise statistics of the target image when replacing stars with background details.

I tried the new v8 AI with several images and had great results with images of galaxies, clusters, nebulae, comets, etc.

Here’s a sample image of Comet 29/P taken November 27, 2021:

This is the same image after using StarXTerminator:

Note that the stars are removed yet the comet remains on the image.

If you haven’t tried StarXTerminator, a free trial is available from RC-Astro.com.
