This is the core of NGC 1365, a double-barred galaxy in the Fornax constellation. The image was captured by the James Webb Space Telescope and processed by myself:
I put this image on its side because the original is quite large. The specks you see throughout the image are not noise – they are stars, a very dense field of stars at the core of the galaxy. I processed this mostly by following my guide, and for stretching, I applied a number of GHS-process-based stretches to get the color I wanted to highlight. The galaxy is seen here with its spiral arms and knots of stars throughout. This is an incredibly clear image of the galaxy’s core.
The larger size version is available on AstroBin.
