Telescope Live is in the process of switching over to CMOS cameras for all of their telescopes. Today, they released their first images using the new CMOS camera on their Chile One telescope.

Swipe left and right below to see the before (CCD, left) and after (CMOS, right) images:


The difference between the two images is pretty dramatic. There’s much more detail in the CMOS image; there’s also more contrast in the CMOS image.

This camera upgrade will replace all of Telescope Live’s cameras, so the results should be spectacular.

I’ll post soon about how I processed the images to get the great Hubble palette colors from just a couple of observations.
