This is about 75 minutes of exposure on Messier 57 – the Ring Nebula. I captured this image using a large number of Slooh.com reservations over several weeks. I optimized SNR by imaging when the moon was below the horizon or at least 100 degrees away.
This image reveals a lot of detail in the ring and the colors are very good. I did very little noise reduction because the noise was so low to begin with.
I discuss optimizing for SNR in this article: Selecting Objects for High SNR and Great Images.
